Content: Working with Other Media Sources

Although you can upload materials directly to Carmen, you can also link to other media and content sources.

Three media and content sources available to the OSU community are:

Access to some library resources is restricted to use by OSU students, faculty, and staff only. Most of these resources control access by computer IP address, which limits access to on-campus use. However, a proxy server is available to provide off-campus access for OSU users. See EZproxy Remote Authentication FAQ for information.

Instructions

Using other media sources within a Carmen course is a two-step process:

Step 1: Place (or Locate) the Media Files

Before working in Carmen, you'll need to place your media files on the appropriate server. Please contact the group in charge of the media or content source directly for information or assistance.

When your content is ready, it will have a URL that points to it.

Step 2: Add a Link in Carmen to Media Files

Once you have a Web link that points to the content, you can add it to your course as a link. There are two recommended ways to link to external content:
