Question Library: Likert

Use a Likert question for allowing students to provide feedback, using one of seven scales.

Attention The Likert Question type can be used with the Survey tool only, not with the Quizzes tool. Therefore, even if you create a Likert question within the Question Library, you cannot use this question in a quiz.

To set up Likert questions:

1. Access Surveys and click Question Library.

2. Choose Likert Question from the Create New drop-down menu, then click Go.

3. Enter a Title to easily distinguish one question from another when building new surveys or re-using questions (titles will not appear in the survey itself).

4. Enter instructions into the Introductory Text box.

Example: Please rate your enjoyment of each section of the course as listed below where 1
the lowest rating and 5 the highest rating.

5. If desired, you can Add a File to associate an image with the question. You can either choose an image already in your course, or upload a new image from your computer.

6. Choose one of the following scales:

Attention You also can including 'N/A' as an answer option by clicking the box next to Include an N/A Option.

7. In the Questions section enter each item that you wish to be rated. You must have at least
one item to be rated. More question boxes can be added by clicking Add Item; excess
boxes deleted by clicking Remove.

8. Provide feedback to the question that will be displayed to the user, if applicable. You can add feedback by expanding the Question Feedback link.

9. Click Preview to view your question as it will appear during use and grading. Click Save to save
the question and return to the main page, Save and Copy to save the question and create a
new question of the same type and that retains the copied properties, or click Save and New to
continue creating questions of the same type.
