When copying components, course files may be overwritten if copied files have the same name as existing files. Only course files can be overwritten; no other components will be overwritten.
If you copy components from the same source multiple times, be careful not to copy the same items more than once or you will create duplicates. This is occurs even if the components are identical.
Example: If a discussion topic has Release Conditions based on the results of a quiz, you must copy all three (Discussions, Quizzes and Release Conditions) at the same time. Similarly, if you have a quiz that is associated with a grade item, be sure to copy both the quiz and grade item at the same time.
To copy Release Conditions, you must select the Release Conditions component.
The only Release Conditions that will be copied are ones that are attached to and reference other components that are copied at the same time (e.g., if a quiz has a Release Condition attached that refers to a Content topic, it will only be copied if both the quiz and the Content topic are copied at the same time). Choosing Release Conditions without selecting any other component will do nothing.
Copying Content does not include Files or Content Display Settings; these must be selected as separate components. Be sure to copy all files used by the Content, or Topics will not display properly.
When copying Grades, Categories, Items, and Schemes are copied. Calculated Grade Items will not be copied. In addition, most options under Grades Setup will not be copied; these settings must be adjusted manually in the new course.
When copying Groups and Sections, auto-enrollments will not be run.
When copying Navigation Bars, this does not include Tool Display Names, which must be selected as a separate component.
When copying components with dates attached (e.g., Calendar, News), the dates will not update for the new quarter. Dates must be manually corrected.
