Course Home

All Carmen courses are initially setup with a default course homepage. You can create a custom homepage that will allow you to add, remove, or rearrange the widgets it displays. Widgets are customizable objects that can be placed in a course homepage to display information, links, and other course functions. They appear on the screen in boxes with title bars.

Modify Your Default Homepage

1. Click Edit Course in the course navbar.

2. Click Homepages. The Manage Homepages page displays.

3. Open the Content / Layout tab and add or remove widgets as needed.

4. Click * Preview Homepage on the action bar to preview your homepage and ensure that it displays as expected.

5. Click on * Homepages to return to the Manage Homepages page.

6. Click on the Set button beside the applicable homepage to make it the active homepage for your course. Click Set Active to confirm your change. The change goes into effect immediately.


Edit an Existing Custom Homepage

To quickly edit a custom homepage you are currently using, click * Edit at the bottom-right of the modified homepage.  This will take you directly to the Content / Layout tab.  The default course homepage cannot be accessed this way.

1. Click Edit Course on the course navbar.

2. Click Homepages. The Manage Homepages page displays.

3. Click the name of the homepage you want to modify. Open the Content / Layout tab and add or remove widgets as needed. Changes to an active homepage are effective immediately

4. Click * Preview Homepage on the action bar to preview your homepage and ensure that it displays as expected.

Add or Remove a Widget from a Custom Homepage

View the Content and Layout tab to see the widgets layout for your Course Home page.

Click the Panel Sizes icon on the action bar above the Content/Layout Tab to adjust the width of the left, center, or right panels. Ensure that the width of each panel is sufficient for the widgets you want to display. Click Save to apply the changes.

Click the arrow for a given widget to reveal options, such as Remove from Homepage.

You can also use the * (Widget Context Menus) to:
