Grades: Calculating Final Grades

Before calculating final grades:

1. Access the Gradebook and click Enter Grades Enter Grades in the main menu to view the Student List.

2. Click Enter Grades Enter Grade at the top of the Final Grades column. Only users with the Instructor or Lecturer role can access this option; users with the TA-Content&Grades, TA-Grader, or Content Editor roles cannot calculate final grades.

You can also calculate final grade for individual students by clicking each student's name.

3. Prepare the adjusted final grade -- only the Adjusted Grades column is transfered to the Registrar. (The process will differ slightly depending on your settings.)

4. If needed, make any necessary adjustments to students' scores by typing new values into the boxes for points/percentage earned and for total points/percentage. When done adjusting, click Save to see any changes reflected in the grade symbols.

5. Click Save when done.

After saving, you are ready to release final grades to students -- to do this, check the box at the top-left of the Final Grades list, and click Release/unrelease the final grade for all students. To preview individual students' views of the Gradebook before releasing, see Previewing Grades.

To use Carmen to transfer grades directly to the Registrar's system, see Submitting Final Grades to the Registrar.
