Show me Releasing and Submitting Grades.
Submitting final grades from Carmen to the Registrar is a two-part process:
Be aware:
Percentage grades CANNOT be submitted to the Faculty Center. You MUST use a letter-based scheme with only A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, and E (such as the OSU Standard Scheme) or S/U (see Selecting a Grading Scheme). Also, you CANNOT use I (incomplete) or EN (Failing, Non-attendance) grades within Carmen; you must apply these grades in the Faculty Center Grade Roster.
If you haven't set up your Gradebook and recorded student grades, you CANNOT use Carmen to transfer final grades to the Faculty Center.
To export grades to the Faculty Center, users must be logged in under their own username and also hold the Instructor role in the Carmen course. In order to post grades via the Faculty Center Grade Roster, individuals must be associated with the course as an instructor of record.
Grade transfer from Carmen to the SIS Faculty Center is available during specified time periods, typically beginning the 10th week of the quarter. See the Carmen homepage for announcement of grade export windows.
To transfer final grades from Carmen to the Faculty Center:
1. Access the Gradebook and click
Enter Grades to go the User List. Go to the Final Grades column and click the
icon in the column heading.
2. Review whether you had chosen to submit Final Calculated Grade or Final Adjust Grade when setting up grade calcuations. (See Grades: Set Up Calculation Method for details). Be sure you see letter grades in the Scheme column for either Final Calculated Grade or Final Adjusted Grades, whichever you have chosen to release. (You can have grades in both areas, but Carmen will only release the set you selected.)
To determine whether you have chosen to release the Calculated Final Grade or Adjusted Final Grade, check the column heading for "Release Final Adjusted/Calculated Grade" as shown here:

3. Review grades. If letter grades appear in the Final Grade column that you wish to release, return to the User List.
4. Click
Transfer Grades to Faculty Center. (This option becomes visible only after grades items are created and final grades have been calculated at least once.)

5. Approve the Confirmation and Processing messages as they are presented to process grades and begin transfering them to the Faculty Center.
6. Wait for a status message to appear.
If you receive a success message, a copy of your grades has been transfered to the Faculty Center. You must log in to the Faculty Center with your OSU username and password and then click the
Grade Roster icon to approve and post grades. A link going directly to the Faculty Center is included in the success message.
If you receive a failure message, there has been a problem transferring a copy of your grades to the Faculty Center. Follow the instructions displayed in the message to resolve the problem.
After export, you MUST post grades via the Faculty Center Grade Roster for your grades to be officially recorded. Also, to post grades, you MUST be the instructor of record or have been granted grading privileges in the Faculty Center.
