In this hands-on workshop, participants will 1) create a quiz, 2) create some questions for the Question Library, and 3) explore Special Access and Conditional Release options, 4)learn how to make online quizzes more secure using a variety of methods, including LockDown browser and advanced Carmen settings.

Gradebook

Feature Focus: Gradebook
90 minutes
In this hands-on workshop, participants will 1) setup their gradebook, 2) create grade items and categories, and 3) review Final Grade options.

Quick Start Carmen

90-105 minutes
This workshop is designed for beginners, but is also good for users who want a better understanding of the default tools: Navigation; Preferences; Classlist and Email; News; HTML Editor; Simple Content.

Who should attend?
Instructors new to Carmen who have or have not previously used a CMS, such as WebCT, Blackboard, Prometheus. This session includes time for hands-on experience.
If you registered for the 90-minute Quick Start, your best next step would be a Focus workshop, concentrating on one feature.

Learn how to compress PDFs and PowerPoint files for optimal online delivery and accessibility. Work with the HTML editor to add Quicklinks to streamed media or library materials.
If you use multiple or large images, please explore your options in a workshop using the "Media Manager." If you use video or audio clips, please contact streaming@osu.edu to first explore your options and obtain links to use in this workshop.

Learning Object Repository (LOR)

Feature Focus: Learning Object Repository (LOR)

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to 1) publish to the LOR, 2) search for content in the LOR, 3) and share information via the LOR.

Media Manager, created in Arts and Sciences, allows easy organization and use of image collections. Explore how to use Media Manager in Carmen in this hands-on workshop.

Learn how to customize your quizzes, as well as learn about tools that work with Carmen to make creating questions and study guides easier.

CarmenWiki

60 minutes:

A wiki enables web-based collaboration for content creation. This workshop explores wiki use in teaching and learning situations, as well as provides some hands-on techniques for using CarmenWiki.
