Public Utilities

Public Utilities is a collection of web-based tools for working with courses served through Carmen. Currently, access to Public Utilities is limited to the Carmen team and to participants in the Carmen Affiliates program.

Since the release of Public Utilities to Carmen Affiliates, calls to the central Help Desk have fallen 67%.

Primarily, Public Utilities focuses on two areas:

• Course tools, which allow users to manipulate course shells in Carmen.
• Administrative tools, which provide reporting functions.

TELR is planning additional features and expanded user access for Carmen Public Utilities during 2007-2008, and will be working with the Carmen Affiliates to define and prioritize the expansions.

Carmen is a service of TELR in the Office of the CIO.
