System Updates and Maintenance

Routine Maintenance

Routine maintenance will be scheduled during Ohio State's standard maintenance window Sundays from midnight to 3:00 a.m., which may adversely affect access or performance during those hours. Advance notice will be given if system downtime is required.

Routine system processes occur every night, from approximately 2:00 to 6:00 a.m., and may slow performance or cause intermittent system errors. If you experience problems during this time period, wait a few minutes and try again.

Yearly Maintenance

We intend to schedule planned major upgrades once yearly. After consultation with the programs and units that provide instructional services off the quarter cycle, TELR has identified the week before Labor Day as the point of lowest Carmen use during the year.

For 2008, the reserved window will be 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 26th through 7:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28th.

By reserving this time, we are not committing to use it. However, we will provide at least six weeks' advance notice if we need to use it.

Critical Updates

In the event that critical updates are required, we will provide as much detail as far in advance as possible about any system outage. Whenever possible, upgrades affecting instructor or student access outside of the routine maintenance window will be scheduled during low use times.
